"The master and the tea cup"
Very short story for you and your children.
The most learned man in the village brimming with pride went to the zen master's house,
“I have learnt everything that is there to learn, can you can teach me something new?”
The zen master asked him to sit down and started serving tea, he kept on pouring and pouring until it started to spill.
The learned man screamed, “what's wrong with you, can't you see? It is overflowing, it is spilling.”
The zen master calmly replied “one cannot learn anything new unless the mind is empty.”
This story is a constant reminder to me to keep an empty and open mind every day at work and home.
