They say “Find your passion, make it your job and you will never work another day”, but it is not true. Life lessons from Ed Sheeran you don’t want to learn the hard way.
Ed Sheeran found his passion at the age of 11, he started writing songs, playing guitar, and performing at smaller venues.
Within a decade, Ed Sheeran was a global superstar and earned numerous awards including Grammy and Brit.
Then in 2019, Ed Sheeran shocked the world by taking a break from music - “To see the world through his eyes and not through a screen”.
What happened?
The record-breaking Divide tour grossed a whopping $775 million at the box office. Ed Sheeran opened up about his low points in 2019 after the Divide Tour.
“I’d sleep on the bus all day, then wake up and then come out, do the show, drink, get back on the bus and I didn’t see sunlight for maybe four months, it was all rock and roll but then it was the lowest I have been.”
“I thought, I should probably try and find something else to give me happiness. I painted a canvas a day for 30 days and it was really fun, I don’t sell my art. I just love doing it. No one else needs to judge.”
Notes to Self:
1. Passion monetized under contractual obligation will cease to be a passion.
2. Doing stuff for yourself is fun, doing stuff for others under contract is a burden.
3. A To-do list is usually other people’s priority.
4. Ultimate freedom is to be in control of your time.
5. An empty calendar is a sign of wealth.
