You do not learn to swim by reading a book.

Learning to navigate digital world is not a choice but a necessity at work and home.

I graduated in 1999, right on the cusp of old and new. Opportunities were either in Y2K or dot-com. Kids - google Y2K.

Top 5 valuable global companies were GE, Walmart, Exxon, Microsoft and Cisco. Today, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google and Facebook.

Valuation has shifted from right to left. Market valued companies that sold stuff (mass) but now value is generated by delivering services online (energy).

At home, I have 11 year old son, I bet the generation gap is the widest in the human history. To be a parent, you have to re-live in the digital world and re-learn good, bad and ugly.

I have learned many lessons, but the most important one

Work - You deliver product and services online that your customers want and like.

Home - It is the exact opposite, you post what you like. If you chase the likes and validation online, it is a downward spiral.

Educating next generation about the underlying contradiction is the most important parenting task.
